I missed my annual January trek to warm sunshine in Ontario at the Road to California Quilt Show due to the effects of chemotherapy.  No one gets a bye with chemo.  I was admitted to the oncology unit at our local hospital with pneumonia while sending my husband, Mike, to vend at the show, along with William, his brother-in-law.  He hated to go.  But the demands of our small family business require the exposure to & the revenue from our products major quilt shows provide.

You discover the kindness of family & friends, and even strangers, when fighting a life-threatening illness.  I'm being nursed back to health through healing prayers, exceptional healthcare, and the on-duty 24/7 hands-on support of so many of my dearest companions.  Every day is a gift.

Mike discovered while vending at the show what I've known for years: Quilters are among the nicest people you'll meet anywhere!  And he now understands my not-so-secret insistence about vending at this wonderful quilt show in southern California in January:  Blue skies, sunshine and daily temps in the 70s versus cloudy skies, snow and temps in the minus zero range here in Iowa! 

Our new “What Cancer Cannot Do” fabric panel out-sold every other panel we shipped-in for the show.  It touches on something that resonates with so many of us!  Our newly available FREE downloadable pattern for this panel will make it even more accessible as an uplifting gift to someone battling this cruel disease.

Getting outside of myself is one way I've coped with feeling so puny these past months.  Reaching out to others with the cancer panel is one example.  Our new “Light in the Window” is another. We offer a FREE downloadable pattern for this panel, too, to honor all our loved ones serving in active military duty. 

As I gain strength, my fondest wish now is to see you at a quilt show this year and/or at our easy-to-travel-to shop in central Iowa.  I remain grateful for your prayers & for your patronage.
